Day 1 was emotionally challenging for me. It allowed a safe space and opportunity to share how difficult that last few years in healthcare have been. Despite these challenges, there were a handful of takeaways:
• We need to ensure that our leadership team is supportive of HRO behaviors and creating a Just Culture. Otherwise, you’ll find yourself on an island. Furthermore, if your organization is not supportive of patient quality and safety, find one that is. There are many strong healthcare organizations out there seeking to foster a positive culture.
• Mind blowing lecture about the lack of policy overseeing EHRs. We can become active in policy and advocate for our patients at this level.
• We need to partner with patients and caregivers to ensure the safest level of care. They are the team members who are at the bedside 24/7.
