Being fortunate enough to be an integral part of the medical field, it is our responsibility to improve and protect our patient’s life. Focused on the humanistic hands on approach of medicine while applying bedside and diagnostic skills, I strive to incorporate preventive care in my every day practice. My volunteering experiences as a medical first responder in Montreal for Saint John Ambulance and in a confidential helpline for survivors of sexual assault have provided me with valuable learning opportunities. Both experiences re-emphasized the idea that listening is arguably the most effective means of communication. Being exposed to all the moving parts of medicine
I am planning to help raise awareness in patient safety and bring back the evidence-based strategies and tools to my colleagues. I intend to apply my diligent curiosity to clinical practice where patients are free from harm. My journey thus far, has enhanced my appreciation of the fact that the more I learn, the more there is to learn – a lesson I believe will greatly benefit me in the practice of medicine.
