As I approach nearer to my residency program it’s a bit intimidating to think that I will be more in charge of direct patient care and making sure my patients are safe. Today’s topics have really helped reshape my residency search criteria to make sure the program values these safety and quality improvement topics. I want to be in an environment where I can get help when I’m unsure, and not feel like I’m expected to know everything as a resident. Already I’ve learned about many valuable tools that will enable me to speak up when something doesn’t seem right, ask for help when I’m unsure, and overall keep the patients’ well-being and best interest central to any care I will be a part of.
I’m excited to continue learning more throughout the week. I know that the knowledge and skills that I’m learning now as a student will help shape the rest of my career as a doctor. Thank you Telluride Experience.
